Maritime Security

Background Asia Risk Solutions offers ship owners and port operators a range of security services and training to assist them address threats and attacks on their maritime assets.

We are also able to respond to a security incident or crisis in a timely fashion with highly skilled professionals.

We are one of the first companies to provide armed security escorts in Asia for high risk maritime assets.  All personnel are highly trained and work closely with ship owners and masters to ensure compliance with IMO, flag state and littoral state requirements as well company policies and safety procedures.  For specific details about our maritime piracy suppression operations please see www.piracysuppression.com

We also provide assessments and advice in relation to maritime assets and port facilities either on behalf of owners, users, insurers or other critical stakeholders.

We can prepare ships, companies or facilities for formal assessment and certification, we can prepare security assessments and plans and we can advise on and implement annual simulation exercises or drills.

We also offer a hotline subscription service for company security officers to assist them or their individual ship security officers deal with security issues as they arise.

From our headquarters in Singapore we can provide these services in Asia Pacific and the Gulf.

Our assessments and training programs are in compliance with IMO guidelines and, in relation to Australian ports and maritime assets, compliant with the Maritime Transport Security Act 2003.

High Threat Maritime Security

We provide security support to owners and masters in high threat or highly vulnerable circumstances. In particular we are able to provide armed escort in a number of areas prone to piracy in Asia.

The escorts we provide are conducted professionally with regard to IMO, flag state, littoral state and other legal requirements.

The operations are complex and incorporate both traditional non lethal anti piracy tactics with armed response designed to deter an attack and boarding of the vessel.

We work closely with the relevant law enforcement, coast guard and naval authorities to enhance the effectiveness of our own anti piracy tactics.

The effectiveness of armed escorts can be enhanced by technical modifications to a vessel's alert systems, access ways and living quarters. We assist owners and operators with advice in this respect.

Assessments

We use a risk based approach to evaluate threats and advise on tactics and strategies to mitigate those threats to your assets. Our security professionals are able to evaluate your security preparedness, the security infrastructure of your firm and the geographies that you operate in, the security equipment you carry and your response mechanisms. Part of this process involves our own intelligence collection and analysis regarding the level of threat that your operations face. We then make recommendations regarding any gaps or deficiencies.

Our assessments can be conducted on site or via a desk audit.

Security assessments in relation to compliance with the ISPS code are conducted using the recommended framework set out by the IMO in their guidelines and with reference to the specific requirements of contracting governments and flag states.
